In the present days, the world is becoming increasingly diverse and includes people of different races, many religions and their cultural groups. I strongly agree that encouraging the cultural diversity in our society is very important for everyone to be treated equally.
A person’s culture involves the customs and ideas that they are used to. It can involve such things as the food they eat, the festivals they celebrate, the language they speak and the way that they act. The culture a person belongs to will often come from the place where they grew up.
Every person’s culture is very important to them, especially if they no longer live around lots of other people who belong to the same culture. It can remind people of who they are, where they have come from and what is important to them.
Diversity is about recognising the importance of different cultures in society and protecting a person’s right to hold on to their culture.
Over the past few years, many countries identified the importance of equality and more diversity in their societies by implementing some changes. However, there is still a lot of progress that needs to be made before we can say that a person in the society has cultural diversity, recognition, equal opportunities and equal rights. There are many ways that we can improve especially from the childhood stage. It would be better way to change at the beginning stages by the following methods:
- Welcome everybody into our school and community
- Showing everyone respect and kindness
- Not judge people on where they are form or who they are
- Learn more about the different cultures and religions that are present in our society
